Celebrate 150 Years Of Howard University #HU150

HU150

Howard Family,

There’s nothing I’d rather do to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of Howard University than to be surrounded by Alumni, creating new memories. Any time I can be a part of that happening, I’m all in.

Thursday, March 2nd, join us after work in a celebration of our Alma Mater.

Entry is FREE with RSVP, and doors open at 5pm.

I’ll see you there!

College educated African Americans migrate South

The nation’s African-American population continued its southward migration over the past decade, shifting a large part of the black middle class from northern states to faster-growing economies of the South.

Among 25 big U.S. metro areas with the largest growth in African-American population between 2000 and 2009, 16 were in the South—including Atlanta and Dallas—according to the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. Among the big losers were cities in the North and West, including Detroit, Los Angeles and Cleveland.

Public Enemy raising teen homelesness awareness in D.C.

In November Virgin Mobile brought Public Enemy to Washington D.C. to celebrate the three year anniversary of National Homeless Awareness Month. Proceeds from the event went to benefiting homeless youth, helping them keep warm, and giving back to the Sasha Bruce House, where a young person who needs a place to stay- for any reason- can find a home. To liven up the night, they had Public Enemy on hand to give this performance on the streets of D.C., on the back of a flat bed truck.

Sweet.
